Key “Good & Great”

Key’s new album, Good & Great, dropped last night, and I’d like to chat a bit about the title track of the same name.

A little background for those not familiar with Key – he’s from the group SHINee, which debuted on May 25, 2008. He is still with SHINee today, but also has a prolific solo career, starting with his first album Face in 2018. Key is considered a major style icon, and is widely looked up to by many K-Pop idols. I could go into more, but I strongly recommend others take a look at his solo work, he’s an excellent artist. (Key is the main reason I got into SHINee.)

He announced the release of his latest album, Good & Great, on August 20th, through assorted social media posts. It kind of threw some of his fans for a loop, considering that the concept seemed to be…office worker?

Stray Kids “Chronosaurus”

Seeing as yesterday was STAY Day, I think it’s time to celebrate with a good little playlist and one of my favorite meaningful songs, Chronosaurus.

Chronosaurus was released March 25, 2019, as a song off of Stray Kids “MIROH” album. It wasn’t released as a full title track, but they did make a MV of the song. It’s basic, it’s simple, but it will suck you in.

On the Topic of Community

Fair warning – this MAY be a bit of a ramble. Just follow along with me here, if you don’t mind. 🙂

So for a few months now, I’ve been really focused on the idea of “community”.

As I mentioned in the Discourse: Eliminating Toxicity post, I’ve been in fandoms of assorted kinds for all of my adult life. Gaming, LARPing, sci-fi, etc – but one of the things I’ve done that I am most proud of is working for assorted local conventions.

There is something so very satisfying to me about being one of the organizers of an event that brings people together. Seeing everyone enjoying themselves, united in some kind of common love for something, truly brings joy to my heart.

Comeback – ATEEZ, “The World Ep.2 – Outlaw”

*deep breath*

ATEEZ COMEBACK!!!

As most of you know, ATEEZ is one of my absolute ult groups of all time. They sucked me in right from go when I first saw the MV for Wonderland and I have become a devoted ATINY.

I know this post is a little late, considering it dropped in mid-June, but I needed a little time to really wrap my brain around the album, the concept, and to also listen to Bouncy at least 546,863 times. (And I’m still not sick of it or the dance, which is a feat in and of itself.)

So let’s get into it!

Discourse: Eliminating Toxicity

Hello all! I’ve been kind of busy for the past few weeks, between the ATEEZ comeback and the SHINee comeback, so I haven’t been posting much. Been listening to a lot of music, and also attending a few local K-Pop events in the New Orleans area, which I’ll be posting about soon!

But for now, the blog’s gonna take a bit of a serious turn. Because in the past couple of weeks – hell, since I started becoming more involved with the K-Pop fandom in the past year – I’m noticing a major difference in how fans interact with the groups and each other, and I feel the need to talk about it.

Comeback – Stray Kids, “5-STAR”

June is shaping up to be an INSANE month for comebacks if you’re a multi-stan like me. And the first drop of the month? Stray Kids’ latest full album, 5-STAR.

Stray Kids is the first group that I really, really connected with when I got into K-pop, so I am always really excited to see new music from them. Even though it’s been just over a year since I started really getting into them, I feel like their popularity has just spiked drastically even since I became a fan – and good for them!

So let’s talk about the songs!

ATEEZ comeback announced!

*clears throat*

ATEEZ ANNOUNCED THEIR NEW ALBUM TODAY!!!!!

You’ll have to pardon me for the screaming (and yes, it was absolutely screaming) because I am SUPER excited for this comeback! ATEEZ is one of my ult groups and I have been excitedly waiting on this album announcement since they teased it in late April.

Red Velvet “피카부 (Peek-A-Boo)”

I’ll freely admit, I’m not as into K-Pop girl groups as I am boy groups. That’s not to say that girl groups are any different, I just haven’t connected or done deep dives into many of them as I have boy groups. I fully intend on resolving that with this blog, though! I have plans to do some discography dives into some groups that I have liked so far.
